Hi,

we've some 6-in-1 usb card reader which causes problems when loading the
mass-storage device. It detects four devices but tells stuff like

Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: sda : READ CAPACITY failed.
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: sda : status = 1, message = 00, host = 0, driver = 08
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: Current sd00:00: sense key Not Ready
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: Additional sense indicates Medium not present
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: sda : block size assumed to be 512 bytes, disk size
1GB.
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: sda: test WP failed, assume Write Enabled
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: sda: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 2097144
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 2097144
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: unable to read partition table
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: Device not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the
drive.
Feb 16 12:05:08 riemann kernel: Device not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the
drive.

and the same for sdb to sdd. Unfortunately, this causes some delays at
several points, e.g. whn trying "fdisk -l" or when starting KDE etc. then
everything hangs for up to 20 seconds while the log fills with the messages
above.

Anyway, we don't need these devices at the moment, so we would just like
to disable them without disabling USB in general.
Is there a way to tell the hotplug system/mass-storage driver to ignore
certain devices?
Disconnection the reader is not an option as the PCs are dualboot and
the card readers are used in Windows.

cu,
Frank
