Oh, don't be like that.. :)

Excellent!

I REALLY hate it when they do that, don't you?

Yup. That too. Argh.

Yes, that's correct. And it's down to me to do something about that.
I'm not a great lover of FAQs so I'm planning to produce something less
like a FAQ and more like a manual, which will build on the existing USB
Guide. I've been putting together a list of the problems that people
have been having over the last 18 months or so, by saving the emails
that demonstrate the problems (and in many cases the solutions, which
is why a mail like yours is so valuable). The trouble is it's well
over 2,000 messages now, and that excludes all my replies which must
make up at least another 500! It's going to be a huge task to distil
all that into a new document, even if the finished document itself
isn't especially large.

All the time I'm hoping too, that soon there will be a really stable
set of USB software so that the target doesn't keep moving so much and
I can document it more thoroughly. At one time early in 2.6 we seemed
to be going a bit backwards. It's getting better, but progress has
been very slow on both development and documentation fronts. There's
still a lot to do.

That's three times this week somebody's called me patient.
Must be losing my touch... :)

73,
Ged.
