Although, I can't help you on your specific problem with USB, I have had problems with some of the Fedora Core 2 Kernels with some of my devices. (Ie a USB to Serial Converter). You may have luck finding a solution to your problem on redhats bugzilla database. I have found that in most cases using a Stock Kernel such as 2.6.8 (from ftp.kernel.org) often was able to solve the problem. Although, this may seem like a rather large task to a newbie, it may be able to solve your problem, and would be a good learning experience. You can download a vanilla kernel from ftp.kernel.org (amongst many other locations.). Documentation may be found in the README file in the top-level directory of the Linux Kernel Source, or by doing a web-search for Linux Kernel Howto.
