How should I know?  It's your computer!  :-)

Seriously, if you have the USB debugging option turned on in the kernel 
configuration, you should see _something_ in the log when you plug in any 
working USB device.  In particular, you know that the ports connected to 
the keyboard and mouse are working; try plugging your other peripherals 
into those ports.
