A MiniDisc is similar to a CD in a hard plastic case (see
http://www.minidisc.org/part_What_are_MiniDiscs.html for more information).

"Hi-MD" is a technology recently introduced by Sony in the beginning of 2004
that allows "normal" (old) MiniDisc media and "Hi-MD" (new) media to be
formatted with the Hi-MD format.

You then simply connect your Hi-MD walkman to your computer using the USB
cable and you have a (little slow) mass storage device. Depending on what
type of MiniDisc media you use, you have between 280 MB and 1GB space
available.

It does not :) Shame on me. No, I won't tell you that I study Business
Computing...

I just got a hint from Stephen that solved the "problem" perfectly.

Hi-MD is very well explained on http://www.minidisc.org/hi-md_faq.html

"Hi-MD mode" means that a ("normal") MiniDisc (or a Hi-MD [1 GB] MiniDisc) is
formatted in a special way (only available with the new Hi-MD units) so that
it can contain data and music.

This "killer feature" was the reason why I decided to buy a Hi-MD device
instead of a iPod. The iPod is faster while transferring music but with 4
Hi-MD discs ( 1 GB at a price of about 6 EUR each) you have the same
capacity as the 40GB iPod...

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

Jean Pierre
