Hi,

Thanks for reply.
I unable to find out the serial number on Windows machine.
I looked for the serial number in the information available for the drive in
Windows Registry and Device Manager.
But couldn't find the serial number.
In registry I followed following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> System --> Enum --> USB

Is there any tool available in Windows to view the serial number? or I have to
write down a program to access device Configuration?

I observed the same thing about the 'TEAC' USB Floppy Drive. Here also the
'Serial Number' is set to none.
root@(none):~# cat /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/0
 Host scsi0: usb-storage
       Vendor: TEAC
      Product: TEAC FD-05PUB
Serial Number: None
     Protocol: Uniform Floppy Interface (UFI)
    Transport: Control/Bulk/Interrupt
         GUID: 064400000000000000000000
     Attached: No

I also tried the above things on Fedora Core 2(2.6.3) and linux(2.6.8) but got
the same result.

Thanks and Regards,
Sachin Rane

Does the serial number really not exist, or is the usb subsystem just failing
to get it? Many usb devices have buggy string descriptor handling. Sometimes
they
can be persuaded to return a string if you treat them right... Is windows able
to
extract a valid serial number?

All the best,

Duncan.
