My error.  The subjects of the two threads are similar enough that I

Works fine as well.  The suspected off-by-1 error hasn't mattered -- so
far.

I just had CONFIG_USB_DEBUG enabled, didn't realize there was a second
relevant symbol.  I've modified the kernel config and have a build
running as I write this.
