Just to let everybody know -
Tried -ts=32768 for cdrecord 2.01 with my USB cd writer for the -atip
option (disk info) - I think I tried 32767 as well. Doesn't improve
my situation - drive still drop off usb bus with cdrecord 2.01 - I'll
need to look further, I guess, and/or come back to it one day.

(of course, with the latest development in open solaris/schilliX,
I just might try to see how the drive behaves under solaris when I can
get my hand on suitable x86 hardware...).

Do you use no x86 hw now?

If you use x86 hw, just boot the SchilliX live CD and try out.

Yes and no - my laptop's internal cdrom drive no-longer works (i.e.
can't boot from CD). Besides, I am not sure solaris x86
work on any arbitrary hardware combination - hence
'suitable' hardware - but yes, it has becomes easier - I could
just borrow somebody's x86 box and reboot - and find an x86 box
which have the essential hardwares supported under solaris
(e.g. having a solaris x86 supported USB controller is important).
