hello,

first, sorry for my bad english. Maybe here is a german-speaking helper
for me?? Also i'm not a little bit Linux-Newbie, not a
Linux-Professional.

I have an LG GSA-5163D DVD-RAM-Writer via USB2 on my Linux-Server. The
distribution is eisfair (www.eisfair.org), a german server projekt.

But I can't write the DVD-RAM. It seems like read-only. Under Windows XP
there's no problem to write and format the DVD-RAM.

If i want to format the DVD-RAM, the error-message is called:
server # mke2fs /dev/sr0
mke2fs 1.35 (28-Feb-2004)
/dev/sr0 is entire device, not just one partition!
Proceed anyway? (y,n) y
/dev/sr0: Read-only file system while setting up superblock

If i want to mount a UDF-formated DVD-RAM it's called:
server # mount /dev/sr0 /dvdram
mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only

The DVD-RAM-Medium is noch read-only, with Windows i have unset the
write-protection.

Now the information about the kernel:
server # cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.4.26-1 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE))

May somebody help? Google helps not to find an answer.

Thanks for every tipp.

Johannes
