I'm considering upgrading an older box with a Asus K8V-X: PC3200 Socket-754 motherboard but need its usb2 sockets to work well with my 300G usb2 enclosure. I finally managed to buy a good chipset-usb2-ide-enclosure and am regularly pushing 100s of G back and forth with no error. Because that was a pain (originally purchased 3 big name usb2 enclosures but all w/ bad chipset) I really don't want to spend $80 on a new motherboard only to find out I cannot really use the onboard USB2 connectors because they're just the slightest bit flakey.
Could someone point out discussion re which motherboard chipsets seem to work fine pushing lots of data around via usb2?
