Hi,
I've stumbled across a bit of a wierd problem:
I've got the following:
Mitac 5026 P200MMX Laptop (Kernel 2.6.12.2)
+ Cirrus Logic PD 6832 PCMCIA/CardBus Controller
++ Nec Cardbus USB 2.0 4 Port Cardbus Card
+++ External USB 2.0 Harddisk caddy (Prolific ATAPI-6 Bridge Controller)
1. When I plug the external harddisk into the USB card (pre-formatted DOS
FAT).. it gets registered correctly (/dev/sd0).
2. when you fdisk it.. you get the partition information ok...
3. In this instance I changed the tag from DOS to LINUX on the partition and
wrote to disk at which point fdisk stops at: "Calling Ioctl...." (Screen
capture 1)
4. When it eventually returns after syncing disks, another fdisk reveals no
partitions on the disk (Screen capture 2). At which point I have to
disconnect and reformat (via the usb) on a Winblows box.
5. A similar issue arises if I mount the DOS partition and try to copy stuff
to it.. the copying just stops part way though.
6. Another very wierd thing is... it does the same with NetBSD.
I've included the dmesg, the lspci -v, lsusb -v, and the screen captures.
The debug/syslog/message logs are pretty big.. I can post them here or email
if necessary. Any testing, debugging or patches I can test, I am more than
happy to ablige!
NOTE: Not sure yet how to change the Kernel Message Ring Buffer size.
