if you prefer free software, NUT - Network UPS Tools [1]
currently support this kind of unit in serial mode.

About USB support, there are things underway with
the newhidups driver. For more info, dig the upsuser
mailing list: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsuser/

Lastly, I would say that the best USB UPS support (and
more generally UPS support) is clearly from MGE. They
have done everything that had to be done, hired the NUT
maintainer ;-) , ... If only every mfr would do it...
