None of it is ambiguous; I didn't say it was.  I said that it didn't 
answer my question.  And it doesn't: Testing can reveal what Windows will 
do in a few specific cases, but it can't tell you what the underlying 
strategy is.

Can you recall a URL or any other indication of where I can verify that?

The Linux development process works like this: Someone points out a bug
or problem.  A fix is devised and -- this is the important part -- tested
to see if it works.

Only you can test the patch to see if it fixes your problem.  I can't do 
it, since I don't have your hardware.  If the patch doesn't work, then 
clearly it won't get into future kernels.  If it does work, we can proceed 
from there.  Even if it doesn't get adopted in its current form, maybe a 
revised version will be suitable and will get into the kernel.

In other words, the ball is in your court.  No further progress will
happen until you try out the patch.  Not having any time available is an
understandable bottleneck; it happens to me often.  Just remember that
until you do have time, there's no point complaining about this
deficiency in Linux.
