At OLS this year I saw Greg K-H running hald/messagebus and
displaying output with (I assume) hal-device-manager. On
insertion of a stack of usb devices the display in
had-device-manager dynamically updated.
I've got hald/dbus running and displaying correctly, except
it doesn't detect hotplug events (usb flash memory used as
test). I have to restart hald before the device is detected.
I have the flash stick appear as /dev/pny%n (vfat is pny1,
ext3 is pny4) using udev.rules. I can rw to the flash memory
just fine. When I run hald --verbose=yes, I get the looping
message
../...../addon-storage.c:283: open failed for /dev/pny:
permission denied.
hald doesn't update for a usb zip drive either, but I didn't
look at the error messages.
What do I have to do to get hald to update on hotplugging?
Thanks Joe
