The Yamaha RP U100 is an audio receiver that attaches to the computer with a USB plug from the computer to get software control of on/off functions, EQ, dsp's, you name it. But the software package to do these things is a Windows one. My recent installs of some Linux distros including Mepis and Demudi have given audio through RealPlayer, system notifcations and xmms. But in none of these can I get any sort of software volume control. How does USB have to be set up to do this? I have read that kernel module changes are necessary. The long range goal is to have the Yamaha be able to do what it does under Windows in Linux. The Yamaha is a USB 1.1 device. I have soundcard connections plugged the usual way from a Voyetra Turtle Beach Santa Cruz to the digital input jacks of the Yamaha. I have attempted to run alsaconf but somehow I am not getting any display of volume or EQ. Kmix kills all audio until it is removed. aumix is not found. The use of Realplayer or xmms gives playback but the volume controls, when not frozen, are useless to change levels. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
