There wasn't enough information in your log to tell what the problem is 
caused by.  Here's what you can do to get more:

        Post the contents of /proc/bus/usb/devices with the camera
        plugged in.

        Turn on the USB Mass Storage verbose debugging option in the
        kernel configuration (CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DEBUG) and rebuild
        the usb-storage driver.  This will add lots of debugging
        messages into the dmesg log.

You can also try upgrading to a later kernel, because sometimes small bug 
fixes are added.  2.6.14 was just released.
