The problem turned out to be in the gadet side g_ether.ko. The g_ether.ko I got from a project coworker worked fine with his 2.6.x desktop, I use 2.4.x. I got the new g_ether.ko he had used to talk to his his 2.4.x desktop box on my gadet and it worked fine.

Has something to do with RNDIS or something.

Thanks to all who helped me.

One good point, I learned alot more about the usb system then I knew going in.

Now, if I can just get the DLink DWL-G122 with MARVELL running I'll be in heaven...

Again thanks to all.

In taht case I presume CDCEther doesn't think it can drive your device.

As you can see I have "driver = none", and tht's the problem, what driver do I need.?

So ifconfig shows no sign of it.

Did you try "ifconfig -a"?

What device do you ifconfig for the CDCEther module? I plug in a usb
cabel and I see in /proc/bus/usb/devices
S: Manufacturer=Linux/net2272
S: Product=RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget

I modprobe CDCEther and
#dmesg
CDCEther.c: CDCEther.c: 0.98.6 7 Jan 2002 Brad Hards and another
usb.c: registered new driver CDCEther
usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:10.3-6 address 2
hub.c: new USB device 00:10.3-6, assigned address 3
usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x525/0xa4a2) is not claimed by any
active driver

BAn ifconfig shows my lo and my eth0 network adapter, but nothing about
the usb. But, nothign that hints at the usb CDCEther.

So what am I missing? Or, where is a complete howto on how to do it?
