Greetings.
I am setting up a machine to clone and distribute onto a network. Everything
works great except for one big snag: usb drives will not be recognized or
mount. This is on a Redhat 4.2 system. On a Redhat 4.0 system, it works just
fine.
Here is some information.
tail -f /var/log/messages, after inserting a usb drive into a port (all
ports result in identical behavior):
Mar 7 12:55:31 localhost kernel: usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using
address 2
Mar 7 12:55:32 localhost kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
Mar 7 12:55:32 localhost kernel: usb-storage: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with
error -1
Mar 7 12:55:32 localhost kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
Mar 7 12:55:32 localhost kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.

I am particularly curious about the 'error -1' reported in
/var/log/messages. Does anybody know what that indicates?
Any help diagnosing this problem, or even better, solving it, would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Christian Leger
