Dear all,

I'm trying to install a newly bought hp printer on
Suse professional 10.1 with the kernel version
2.6.16.13-4-smp. i'm using a HP dc7600 pc with 512mb.
This has a usb mouse which is working without any
problem. Now to the problem.
When i connect the usb cable to the machine it logs
the following in the /var/log/messages

Jul 15 12:39:28 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: new high
speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11
Jul 15 12:39:28 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
descriptor read/64, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:28 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
descriptor read/64, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:29 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: new high
speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 12
Jul 15 12:39:29 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
descriptor read/64, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:29 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
not accepting address 12, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:29 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: new high
speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 13
Jul 15 12:39:29 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
descriptor read/8, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:30 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
descriptor read/8, error -71
Jul 15 12:39:30 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: new high
speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 14
Jul 15 12:39:30 print-server kernel: usb 1-7: device
not accepting address 14, error -71

When i try to execute usbview it puts out an error as
well. It says
Can not open the file /proc/bus/usb/devices
Verify that you have USB compiled in to your kernel,
Have the usb modules loaded, and have the usbdevfs
filesystem mounted.

When you do a ls on /proc/bus/usb this is empty. What
is hapenning. I cannot undestand. If the usb was an
issue then my usb mouse will also not work i think.
But it's working fine. Can some one sched me some
light to overcome this.

Thanks in advance
