I got the firmware and programming manual frol KLSI. The trick is
finding the right people to ask. I *swear* I mailed this info to
Donald Becker after he asked me about it last time (I sent it to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]). But I never heard anything back. *grr* Anyway,
the person to ask is Joel Silverman ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). I specifically
asked about issues concerning the redistribution of the firmware
and they told me they had no problems with it being included in
FreeBSD. The only concern they had was about redistribution of
their Windows driver source, which I didn't care about one bit.
I didn't have to sign any NDAs or license agreements: they just
gave me the stuff and left me alone.

Ideally people should ask them for this stuff themselves, however
since I didn't sign any NDAs, I guess there's nothing to prevent
me from making it available. Intrested parties can look at:
http://www.freebsd.org/~wpaul/KLSI
I placed two files there: klsi.pdf and BinFiles.zip. The latter
contains the firmware images and some sample code for a Windows driver
to load it. The former is the document that describes the interface
available once the firmware is loaded and running. This is all that
I got from KLSI.

As for copying FreeBSD stuff, I don't care if people swipe chunks
of my code. I can't take it with me, can I.
