Hi,

This printer is most likely implemented with the
USB-spec'd printer bulk endpoint(s). You can
verify this by building USB support in Linux
and connecting the printer to your USB hub/ports.

If the USB printer driver is not loaded, the
printer's USB descriptors are printed to the
kernel log. You can post that info so that we
can view it and help you to verify it.

If the USB printer driver is loaded and it finds
the expected printer endpoints, it will grab the
printer and print a console message that it has
found a USB Unidirectional or (more likely)
Bidirectional printer.

This means that Linux should be able to communicate
with the printer over the USB link, and I expect
that the current USB printer driver can do this.

However, what you probably need (and I do as well,
for the HP 970C printer) is a printer filter that
knows how to convert data correctly for this model
printer -- or is that what you meant?

Ah, looking at
http://gatekeeper.picante.com/~gtaylor/pht/printer_list.cgi?make=HP&format=s
ummary,
it lists the 970C and 1120C as Mostly Working* (*some info is not
verified). 1200C works perfectly. 1220C is not listed.

HTH.
