[linux-usb] problem with usbcore and char-major-180

Hi everyone.
I have a problem with my usb scanner Epson Perfection 1200U.
When i try to load the module usbcore, xconsole report:
usb.c unable tu connect usb devices wit major 180

I think that`s the problem why my scanner doesnt work
I have Linux Suse 6.4 with kernel 2.2.14 and backend 2.3.39.
