You can use symbolic links.  For example, as root, enter:
ln -s /dev/modem /dev/ttyACM0

As root, you can copy your kernel log messages file
to another file and then edit that file to keep only the parts
that are interesting for linux-usb (to reduce its size).
Then paste or attach that file to your email message.
