Hi all, Sorry it has taken me so long to announce this, but it seems that "real life" keeps intruding lately. But anyway: A few months ago, I and a few others talked about providing Linux support for the USB Plug Fest. I have been talking to the USB IF about what kind of support they need and could use in order to provide vendors with a stable platform for testing their USB devices on Linux. Here's what they want from us: A number of documents that match the current USB Interoperability documents that are available at http://www.usb.org/developers/complian_testing.html#interoperability that explain the versions of Linux and the various reference device drivers that a vendor could use to certify that their device (or device/driver combo) would work properly on Linux. What wouldn't really be useful would be a Linux implementation of all of the current testing tools that are available for Windows (unless someone really wants to rewrite them.) They, (the USB-IF) said that they don't need that, but really need the above documents to test compliance. The current Windows tools are useful in testing basic USB functions, but doesn't test how the devices work while subjected to normal system situations. I have set up a sourceforge project to provide a web site, storage space, and mailing lists for the project: http://linux-usb-test.sourceforge.net/ Currently there isn't any web pages there, so the following link probably would be better: http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=4336 I would encourage anyone who is interested in working on this to please join the mailing list and project. (I'm also looking for anyone who wants to manage the web site. I could do it, but I really don't want to. This would be a great way for any non-coders out there to get involved.) If anyone has any questions, or comments on this, please feel free to contact me. Thanks, and sorry it's taken me a while to set this up, greg k-h [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
