Err, why 2.3.51? The current kernel version in 2.3 is 2.3.99pre6, and
multiple pre-patches to pre7 are out.

Please send the extract from /usr/src/linux/.config for whatever kernel
build you did.

You are almost certainly using the wrong device node or have selected
the wrong kernel options. I can tell if you send me the information I
have requested above.

One thing to try: With 2.3.51, you probably need char 10/32 as the
device node.
