Let's take the kludge out for now. Could you send this patch to Linus for
inclusion in the next release? It's best to leave it #define'd out for
now since it does more harm than good.

I've been thinking about a way to deal with APC UPS' in a HC independant
way and without a kludge, but I've been busy hacking on other more
important code.

I'll come back to it eventually, but one device's broken behaviour is
the least of my worries :)
