I'd like to hype my program (GPL,free), usb-robot so that anybody
interested can take over development . . .
http://altern.org/vii/programs/linux/usb-robot/
It allows you to quickly prototype drivers in perl or any other
scripting language. It uses libusb to interface with the USB layer,
and currently only supports bulk transfers (as I don't have any other
kind supported by my one USB device).
It also has a perl script to translate MS-Windows USB traces provided
by sniffusb 0.1 (http://www.jps.net/~koma/) into an easy to read
summary, or to actually control the USB device in the way MS-Windows
did. I don't know if it'll work with the updated sniffusb.
I used it to develop the upcoming Microtek ScanMaker X6 driver with
Oliver Neukum, and I don't see myself updating it at all, unless
someone gives me another USB device about whose specs the makers are
being cagey ;-)
So if anyone wants to take over development . . .
