I think I'll be going for a master-slave setup where the data processing part
is a slave of the management part. This will create symbol dependencies, but
this doesn't really matter because the master isn't usefull without the salve
anyway ;-).
I forsee that there will be other devices based on the same (Alcatel)
chipset.  They will also need the data processing part, but the management
will differ.
