Take a look at http://www.jps.net/koma/ for one program that does this
(I think there's another one, but I can't remember the link right now.)

As for how difficult it is, it's not easy, but not impossible. The best
thing to do it just try some simple operations and save the dumps for
that simple operations to different files. That way you/me/we don't have
to slod through a huge amount of trace data to figure out the steps.

Try just plugging the device in, and saving that trace.
Then try getting a listing of the files in the Palm, and saving that
trace. Between the two of them, we should have enough information to
work with (hopefully).

Try email, and calling. That's the best way, I don't think you will find
the spec on their web pages (but I could be wrong.)
