Hello,

Well I managed to make my epson perfection 1200u work the following way.
I compiled the kernel with usb as module, uhci and usbfilesystem
support.
Then I made a
insmod usb-uhci
insmod scanner
I made the device
mknod /dev/usbscanner c 180 48
Then I mounted the filesystem
mount -t usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb /proc/bus/usb
Then I made a cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
And I saw my Epson Perfection listed.
I compiled the latest stable sane I got from the sane website (search
sane on frshmeat.net)
I installed it
Then I edited /usr/local/etc/sane.d/dll.conf
I commented everything but the line : epson
In the file /usr/local/etc/sane.d/epson.coonf
I commented everything but the line : usb /dev/usbscanner
Finally I made rmmod scanner && insmod scanner
then scanimages --list-devices
and I saw my scanner listed.
Then I compiled xsane and put a link into the gimp plugin directory
I can now scan directly from the gimp

Hope it'll work for you

Jean-Pierre
