Yes, I believe that there are some changes necessary in order to get the
userfs working with the 2.2 kernel series. I had trouble compiling some of
the examples under (I think) the 2.0 kernel series.

It does seem to need some major updates... My guess is that it was
designed for libc5 instead of glibc/libc6, in addition to the kernel
differences.
The PerlFS userfilesystem builds and passes most of it's tests ok, though.
