du -s /* | sort -nr

By doing this I 'discovered' a parasite: which I could have
  swore was mounted at a different point.

Nick burned the RH 7.2 CD's for me last night so:
  anybody near COSC @ Uoc is more than welcome to
  enquire about borrowing a physical CD to burn their
  own copy or install from / BYO blank I may even consider
  burning a copy on my wee linux box (at your own risk!)
