I have a 10Mb UTP Network at home (Though I have use Cat-6 1Gb cable). Response between laptop and 700 is pretty good. Things run alot faster than they would if it was running on the laptop. For web browsing, email, word-processing (Star Office), and graphics editing (the Gimp) it is very useable. Win4Lin is useable as well... but some windows redraws are a little slower than usual... Maybe take 3/4 sec instead of 1/4 sec. I have even run XMMS with the 3D visualisation... but that was a really slow response, but did work all the same. MP3 Videos are a bit slow... but some really small ones were O.K. In general - its pretty good - but you got to remember that X was originally designed to run across RS232 serial cables @ 9600 Baud, so it does work pretty good across a 10Mb connection... and I guess a 100Mb or 1Gb would be even better :) Mike. -- ------------------- Linux is the future!! http://www.linux.org/
