Thanks to all who have offered advice to me over the last few days. I really enjoyed the discussions at the meeting tonight and now that you all (who were also at the meeting) know me, I thought I should tell you that the problems with my Samba were related to the firewall.
I ran "setup" and changed to "no firewall" and Bingo, I can now see my Linux shares. Next step is to set up the appropriate level of firewall. Regards, Robert
