If you're after cheep see if you can score a second hand drive from somewhere... Often 
ppl buy newer/faster writers 'just cause they can', when there's nothing wrong with 
the old one, except its not as fast. I bought a Mustek 4/4/24 writer (previous to 
finding this one i didn't even know mustek made burners) second hand for $80 about a 
year ago. I've only ever made one coaster with it in Linux, and that was when i 
physically shook the case putting the side back on, while writing.
