Issues :

VMware is binary-only and only supports a limited number of kernels -> you
will need to "upgrade" (read pay more money) to run VMware with
kernel-2.7.00-ac.foobar-pre7

Hardware emulation issues - some things just don't work. Two things I've run
into : Nokia Software for managing my phone via a serial cable works fine on
Win2k. On Win2k under VMware it detects the cable but not the phone - serial
port passthrough is fudged somewhere. A more serious one for me is that the
emulated Cdrom will not work with "copy-protected" CD's e.g. the Sybex
training CD's use safedisc and one gets a "command not implemented" error
when Win2k under VMware attempts to read a safedisc CD.

Running Solaris x86 under VMware is a bit hairy too, but can be done.

Apart from that it's a fine product.

Regs,
Andrew.
