I usually use ncftp that on its default setting tries whatever works. I 
have also tried explicitly trying both flavors of passive. No luck.

I thought of that one, indeed I did have problems with that at work 
(DeadBat out of the box installs this Loki thing that breaks lots of 
things, so I broke Loki.) I have the problem at home and at work, but with 
Paradise but not Ihug.
