Hi,

For Christmas I'm getting a pair of Explora Xterminals
(thanks Craig F) and a hub.

Naturally I'm gonna hook them up to my linux box.
What I'm trying to decide is whether to give each
Xterminal a static IP or use DHCP.

I'd like to keep the number of daemons running on my linux box to a minimum,
hence the idea of going static.

If I assign static IPs, will I need a /etc/ethers file to map MAC address to
IP address?

I imagine I'd only need to set it up once.
Would I be better off using DHCP? - like I mentioned before, I'm wary of having
too many daemons running.

The only advantage I can think of for using DHCP is when friends bring a laptop
around (rare).

What are other home lan admins thoughts on this please?

Thanks
Yuri
