The other point is that he could simply download the rpm's that are
not working. If the cd's are buggered they should be replaced, but if
he simply wants to get something going in a hurry he should simply
download the ones he needs and install them.

See my previous post for info on how to see which ones actually are
buggered. 

I am not in favour of replacing the full set unless all of
them are buggered, they need to be tested. Its a quick job on a machine
like you are describing.
