next quetion, how do I install win2k from a networked cdrom onto a
vmware virtual machine? IE I do not have a cdrom in the host computer,
but I have three available on the network.

emerge vmware-workstation (12M download or thereabouts)

run /opt/something/vmware-config.pl

insert your license details, and away.
