Yes, I'm finding that. A pity that it so undermines production boxes for newbies, that's all. Nick's point affirmed - choose mobo's appropriate to Linux! + a modem. Are there any current mobo chipsets more perfect for use? Intel? Seems it will always be a matter of writing off at least the onboard modems so often supplied now, at least temporarily. My machine is a year old already. The next will be better selected - quotes anyone? P4 2.5G+ spec. What is the best system a Linux home user could expect these days? >Can you bring your 'puter in to the CLUG meeting on Thusrday and we'll get its >modems to go, maybe make a meeting lesson out of the exercise at the same >time? I'd be most happy to. Thanks for the invitation & feedback Chris. 7.30pm Sydenham Community Centre, Hucheson St, Thu 14-Aug-03 (?) Cheers ~ Rik P.S.
