Hi,
This is not quite on the topic of Mdk10, but close enough to be of
interest to this thread.

Installing Fedora core 2 test 1 on my laptop proved to be impossible.
It started having trouble reading the first CD, but seemed to get by.
Then it stopped. Fail to read package (some name)
Check CDs.
the install process has an option to check install media.
Which I promptly did, despite not having a clue what the check did.
  All CDs test fine.

Maybe it is a heat problem I thought, and turned the laptop off.
Came back next day, and it installed all of CD 1 just fine.
It did have problems with CD 2, and failed on some other package.

Took those CD's into work, where they installed just fine..
Time for a net install.. Trouble is, FC2 test 1 did not have a boot floppy
designed for net install - it was based around CD install only.

It turned out to be a bit of a mission in the end.
here is what I did to install on that laptop.
a)Do a very very minimal install.
   Which worked OK.

b)Copy the isos to the hard drive, and loopback mount them.

c)rpm -Uvh rpms that "looked useful".

d)when it said, blah and blah required for those rpms, just repeat the
above rpm line with required package.

yep,
a mission, and that box was never quite "right". However, some will
argue, it was Fedora, so how could it have been right?

Derek.
