As we all know, on a Windows box it's better to uninstall a program and install the updated one, rather than install over the top, I first uninstalled Thunderbird 0.5
Among the messages I see
Deleting Thunderbird/Profiles/default/Extz2sqb.slt/Mail/pop3.paradise.net.nz/Inbox
Huh?
Install Thunderbird 0.6
Where's all my email gone to!

Cursed Thunderbird 0.5!!
I've been able to recover those deleted files but please take note. Thunderbird 0.5 deletes your COMPLETE profile, that's email, address books, newsgroups, everything!
Tip: make a copy of important files before uninstalling.
I've just tested the Thunderbird 0.6 uninstall and that behaves nicely, that keeps the profile in place.
But if you're using 0.5, then watch your back.
