tricky.

if you have xdmcp open you can run Xnest -query ... and shoot that.

otherwise try adding a commein in Xsetup (eg: /etc/kde3/kdm/Xsetup )
execute in the background a script that will sleep for a while, and then
run xwd to make the screenshot.

alternatively (less secure) put something like xhost +; into that same
script, to allow access, and run xwd from another console.

there should also be a way to get the login program to run on another
X display (use Xnest to create one)
