Some of you might be interested to attend this event. Costs $5 though,
unless you're an NZCS member. Their website is a bit funny though,

http://www.nzcs.org.nz/SITE_Default/branches/SITE_canterbury/events/BC507a.asp

says all about the topic and speaker, but not when and where it is and
how to register. Try this:

        Details:

        NZCS: Canterbury branch presents:

        Andreas Girardet

Is Linux ready for primetime on the corporate desktop?

Linux has evolved from being a server operating system to a
serious desktop alternative for the corporate market. Andreas
will talk about his experience in Linux desktop migrations
including Novell's own large scale internal deployment. The
presentation will cover the issues and resolutions he has faced
in these projects, and will include a brief overview of existing
        Linux desktop related technologies.
