i thought restarting the caching name server should work too. if you're convinced it's caching you could try the brute force approach: sudo find /var -type f -print0 | sudo xargs -0 grep -l "IP" ..where "IP" is the IP address is the one you think is being cached. this approach is good for find things in /etc too, say if you can't work out what is starting eth1 when you don't want it to: sudo find /etc -type f -print0 | sudo xargs -0 grep -l eth1 - neil
