Most boxes that are old enough to have a serial port, have two of them - or 
theres often another header on the motherboard.

Or is this a laptop?

You can also get USB/serial converters from DSE that work in linux - basically 
the chips are made by a company called ftdi. Drivers are in the kernel, good to 
see a hardware company working with linux to the point of effectively 
contributing to the kernel.
