You don't mean a lesson on "HOWTO - read a manual page" do you? :-)/2
I fear you may have misunderstood my little emoticon here ----------^^^^^
because the meaning I intended it to have was "Half in Jest"
No I didn't miss it... I just know that many of you have been frustrated
by my not always reading and fully understanding man pages :)
If only learning linux was as simple as reading the man. :)
Are you refering to my 'Library Time' content each week Chris?
Yes, each week we spend 15 to 20 minutes looking at resources in the
Library and one the library web site.
When the group started only one of the students had a library card and
knew how to use the reservation system.
Now they all have cards, even the out of towners.
We also spend some time reviewing different book and talking about the
importance of reading books because it's a major income source for OSS.
Or are you talking about the content from Lesson One?
Yes, in lesson one they learnt about the man system in Linux.
That all sounds absolutely splendid, seriously.
I thought it might be time for a bit of a CLUG update on what we've been
up to.
LES class is 10:30am - 2pm every thursday and I'm still waiting for your
presentation Chris :)
And what do you think the material in the presentation should be?
I've got the vnc2swf thingie to go, but need to know HOWTO add sound and
convert to an avi. Got any ideas?
That sounds like a fantastic idea once you've got the audio side sorted
out.
I was hoping that you might be able to help me with the tecnicalities for
that. I seem to remember that you made a posting about it a little time ago.
I was fearing you might say that... I got side tracked and haven't
looked at it again. I'm currently working on getting a wifi solution
finished for a local motel so they can give wifi away for free.
I can do an over view of what vnc, swf and avi are the week before.
That's a good idea.
Or... you could do a lession on setting up vnc and more on x and kde
first if you wanted to?
I was thinking of using the vnc, swf and avi things as a teaching medium
rather than as the subject matter of a lesson, but if you think there would
be interest I'd be happy to show off how to set it all up once I've got
everything going correctly.
Kewl! Yes I think that would be very useful.
With all the talk this week about documentation, it strikes me that we
need to make some fun ways to document things.
Cheers Don
