Thank you, Christopher, Slosh, Steve, I did eventually wget the file and dpkg -i it. I'm still curious as to why I'd get the "connection refused" when I could download other files at the same time.
Actually the totem-xine-firefox-plugin was not essential, just a bit of a convenience (and doesn't do what I hoped, anyway). More to the point is that with or without the plugin, I couldn't get the stream of Concert FM to play (although individual recorded programmes from Radio NZ do play). The aim of the whole exercise is to receive the Concert programme at a remote (geographically isolated from all Concert FM transmitters) site. While investigating how to set up totem-xine to play the Concert FM .asx (.asf) stream, though, I discovered VLC, which is now playing some tortured-sounding alto on marian (an AMD64 machine, so no w32codecs package is even available for it). =====Andrew
