I have the misfortune to now work somewhere with exactly the same issue.
Its bloody diabolical. I often have to try a web page two or three times
before dns resolves properly. I tried putting a manual external dns server
into my own computer's settings, but then it misses local domain addresses
(which paradise knows nothing about).

The problem with no longer running my own show is the inability to change
this crap.

Ahhh well I did it so I wouldn't have to get involved in admin stuff. *sigh*
